Compensation

The estimated pay for this position is $25.2641 - $33.9528 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. In addition, this position may be eligible for participation and company contributions into 401(k).

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Clinical Director -Outpatient Clinics, the Clinic Coordinator is responsible for assisting with effective day-to-day operations at a designated ambulatory medical clinic. Through clinic staff, the Clinic Coordinator ensures the clinics run smoothly and efficiently while enforcing the hospital’s policies and regulations.
The Clinic Coordinator is expected to perform duties with a high degree of independence, initiative and judgement. Is responsible for clinic day-to-day operations and activities which will meet ambulatory clinic objectives.

Essential Functions

  • Provides direction to clinic staff who perform routine, specialized and complex tasks

related to the care and treatment of patients in an outpatient clinic setting under the
direction of a physician, podiatrist, physician assistance or nurse practitioner.

  • Responsible for assisting in the coordination of clinic services by following the integrated

business plans of the clinic to include cost management, quality, and clinic utilization
standards and performance measures.

  • Ensures that services meet patient, provider, and internal client needs.
  • Assists with the development of clinic schedules and daily staff assignments.
  • Anticipates patient care problems and responds to changes in the clinic by prioritizing

changes in patient status and unusual occurrences.

  • Ensures that all clinic opening and closing procedures are completed in accordance with

clinic policies and procedures.

  • Assists with conflict resolution. Communicate both potential and actual problems to Clinic

Director or Clinic Supervisor to ensure safety of staff and visitors.

  • Assists in determining resolution for complex clinical problems within clinic operations.
  • Coordinates performance improvement projects as assigned, to include recommendation

of participant involvement, coordination of meetings and document preparation.

  • Assists in the implementation of processes and methods designed to improve patient care.
  • Ensures clinic staff maintain all required compliance to include, certification, BLS and TB

testing.

  • Collaborates with Clinic Director and/or Clinical Supervisor to implement and maintain

patient care and quality service standards to meet provider and patient expectations.

  • Acts as a patient advocate resolving patient care issues.
  • Participates in the process of selection of medical assistant staff to include, reviewing

resumes, participation in interviews, and recommendations for final selection.

  • Provides new hire department orientation to include training assignments, competency

verification and ongoing staff development.

  • Provides feedback to Clinical Director and/or Clinical Supervisor in evaluating

performance of medical assistants.

  • Responsible to monitor and promote safe patient care within assigned area.
  • Responsible to serve as a role model and mentor medical assistants to reinforce quality

standards of care.

  • Perform clinical duties as needed.

Additional Duties

Qualifications and Skills

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent required;
  2. Graduate of an accredited medial assistant program AND Five (5 years) of progressively

responsible medical assistant experience in a high-volume medical office setting OR
Graduate of an accredited medial assistant program, certified as a Medical Assistant
through the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologist
or California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants AND Three AND (3 years) of
progressively responsible medical assistant experience in a high-volume medical office
setting

OR

Completion of a basic Vocational Nurse curriculum accredited by the California Board of
Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric examiners, Current valid license as a Vocational Nurse
AND three (3) years of progressively responsible medical assistant or LVN experience in
a high-volume medical office setting.

  1. Previous experience in a lead medical assistant role preferred.
  2. Must possess and maintain the following certifications:
  3. Current American Heart Associate Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
  4. Knowledge of procedures to properly measure and record patient vital signs.
  5. Must have excellent organizational skills, with the ability to ensure timelines are met,

information is accurate and quality standards are maintained.

  1. Must be attentive to detail, accurate, thorough, and persistent in following through to

completion of all activities while demonstrating initiative for identifying and resolving
problems/conflicts in completing work assignments.

  1. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle various situations in a

professional manner, demonstrating excellent customer service.

  1. Must have excellent communication skills; able to read, write, and speak articulately, using

established channels of communication and reporting relationships within the organization.

  1. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal/external staff, management,

members, physicians’/physician office staff, family members of patients, etc.

  1. Willingness to work as part of a team, working collaboratively with others to achieve goals,

solve problems and meet established clinic and organizational objectives.

  1. Ability to demonstrate respect for the feelings and needs of patients, family members, team

members, visitors and others with sensitivity to their cultural, language, financial, physical
and social differences.

  1. Must be reliable in attendance and timeliness.
  2. Must be able to operate a computer; knowledge of common software applications needed

to perform job duties

  1. Ability to maintain knowledge of and adhere to all hospital and clinic policies and

procedures.

  1. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
