Job Summary

The Talent Acquisition Manager leads Sendik’s overall recruitment operations, sourcing strategies, and selection processes. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role guides and empowers a team of recruiters to meet store-level and Support Center hiring goals during periods of steady operation and rapid growth.

As a strategic yet hands-on partner, the Talent Acquisition Manager works closely with Store Directors, HR Business Partners (HRBPs), and operational leadership to build creative candidate pipelines, optimize talent technology, reduce time-to-fill, and ensure an exceptional candidate experience from first contact through onboarding.

Work Experience

Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Active Recruiting

  • Serve as a true hands-on recruiting manager, maintaining an active requisition load focused on key leadership, high-priority store positions, and Support Center roles.
  • Proactively build and cultivate talent pipelines to strengthen Sendik's leadership bench for current operational needs and future store growth.
  • Develop and execute data-driven recruiting strategies to attract high-caliber candidates across retail, skilled trades, and management.
  • Drive innovative sourcing campaigns, community partnerships, local events, and social media channels to engage active and passive talent pools.

Team Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Talent Acquisition team, fostering a continuous improvement mindset and establishing clear accountabilities.
  • Oversee recruitment processes, compliance standards (State & Federal regulations), and administrative workflows to maintain high operational accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in behavioral-based interviewing, selection methodologies, and competitive offer creation.

Metrics, Analytics & Process Optimization

  • Analyze recruitment metrics—including time-to-fill, candidate conversion rates, sourcing channel ROI, referral participation (BEEP), and hiring manager satisfaction—to refine recruitment workflows.
  • Optimize Applicant Tracking System (ATS) utilization, candidate relationship management (CRM) tools, and emerging AI/recruitment technologies.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to maintain candidate experience standards.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Culture Alignment

  • Maintain consultative relationships with Store Directors, Operations, Leadership and HRBPs to align talent acquisition strategy with internal mobility, succession planning, and leadership development goals.
  • Partner with HR operations to ensure smooth handoffs between selection, offer acceptance, payroll setup, and new associate onboarding.
  • Model Sendik's core values and culture, ensuring "The Sendik's Difference" is reflected in every candidate and team interaction.
  • Complete other miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Assist in the stores during peak holiday seasons as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 6 years of full-lifecycle talent acquisition experience in high-volume retail, grocery, hospitality, or multi-unit environments.
  • Proven experience carrying an active requisition workload while simultaneously leading, mentoring, and developing a team of recruiters.
  • Demonstrated success in proactively sourcing, recruiting, and building pipelines for leadership and key talent positions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), LinkedIn Recruiter, CRM platforms, and candidate sourcing databases. Experience with Phenom (ATS/CRM) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data, recruitment metrics, and workforce analytics to influence leadership decisions and improve process efficiency.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
