We are seeking an organized, proactive, and collaborative HR professional to join our team as a Talent Acquisition and Retention Coordinator to help attract, select and onboard talented individuals who lead with empathy, embrace innovation, and are dedicated to delivering exceptional patient and family experiences.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Manager, People & Culture, the Talent Acquisition and Retention Coordinator supports the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes, helping to attract and welcome qualified candidates who contribute to exceptional patient- and family-centered care.

Working collaboratively with leaders, candidates, and People & Culture team members, the Coordinator provides day-to-day recruitment and onboarding support while ensuring compliance with collective agreements, employment legislation, and organizational policies. The role is responsible for coordinating recruitment activities, maintaining recruitment data and records, supporting recruitment systems and processes, and helping to deliver an efficient and positive experience for candidates, hiring leaders, and new employees as well as supporting retention initiatives throughout the employee lifecycle.

WHAT YOU’LL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Participate in and coordinate the full-cycle recruitment and selection process for unionized and non-unionized positions, ensuring internal and external job posting activities are administered in accordance with collective agreements, employment legislation, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate recruitment outreach and engagement activities with educational institutions, professional associations, and community partners to support recruitment efforts and promote career opportunities at GBGH.
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection activities in collaboration with leaders, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, interviews, assessment activities, and the completion of hiring-related administrative requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain applicant tracking system records, candidate databases, recruitment documentation, and onboarding and new hire administration processes, including criminal checks, employment documentation, HRIS data entry, and employee file maintenance, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, data integrity, and legislative compliance.
  • Gather, maintain, validate and report on recruitment metrics, hiring outcomes, and workforce data to support recruitment process reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare regular reports for leaders and the Manager, People and Culture.
  • Prepare employment offers using approved templates and coordinate hiring documentation, onboarding activities, and new employee orientation processes, supporting a seamless and positive onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Serve as a responsive and knowledgeable resource for applicants, employees, leaders, educational partners, and external stakeholders by providing recruitment-related information, guidance, and support throughout the hiring process.
  • Support recognition and retention initiatives, contributing to a positive workplace culture.
  • Provide backup coverage for the HR Coordinator and other People & Culture team functions as required, ensuring continuity of operations and responsive service delivery during planned and unplanned absences.
  • Contribute to a culture of service, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement by supporting People & Culture initiatives, promoting fair and equitable hiring practices, remaining current on emerging recruitment trends and technology, and participating in departmental projects and activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent years of directly related experience.
  • Minimum two years demonstrated success coordinating full-cycle recruitment activities.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Strong working knowledge of HRIS, and Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Working knowledge of applicable employment, labour, human rights, accessibility, privacy, and health and safety legislation, including the ESA, LRA, OHRC, OHSA, AODA, and PHIPA.
  • Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., HRPA, PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Exposure to a unionized healthcare environment is an asset.
