As a Client Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator, you'll play an important role in connecting individuals with opioid use disorder to treatment and recovery resources. You'll build relationships throughout the community, engage individuals who may be hesitant about treatment, and help remove barriers to accessing care.

What You'll Do
The Client Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator develops and maintains referral relationships while conducting community-based outreach to individuals who need behavioral health and opioid use disorder treatment services.
Community Outreach & Engagement
Your responsibilities may include
- Develop relationships with hospitals and emergency departments.
- Build partnerships with courts, recovery courts, probation and parole, and correctional facilities.
- Establish relationships with primary care providers, law enforcement, community organizations, and faith-based organizations.
- Conduct outreach in rural and resource-limited communities.
- Engage adults with opioid use disorder, with particular focus on individuals ages 18–25.
- Conduct outreach to individuals within four months of release from jail or detention.
- Represent the organization at community events, health fairs, coalitions, and task forces.
Referral & Treatment Support
- Operate the emergency department referral pathway.
- Provide warm handoffs for individuals identified following an overdose or opioid-related emergency department visit.
- Complete initial eligibility screenings.
- Coordinate warm handoffs to assigned Care Coordinators.
- Provide information about MOUD and recovery services.
- Develop and distribute community outreach and educational materials.
- Help individuals overcome barriers to accessing treatment.
Transportation & Client Support
- Operate a project fleet vehicle to transport clients to appointments and dosing.
- Provide transportation throughout the Mercer and Ocean County service areas.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism while working with clients in community settings.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Track referral sources, conversions, and client engagement.
- Submit required data to the Project Evaluator according to established schedules.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Follow HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development.
- Collaborate with Care Coordinators and other members of the treatment team.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
One of the following is required
- High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of outreach, health navigation, or community engagement experience; or
- An associate or bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of required experience.
Additional Requirements
- Familiarity with New Jersey behavioral health and criminal justice referral systems.
- Ability to engage individuals who may be hesitant or ambivalent about treatment.
- Valid New Jersey driver's license.
- Must meet agency driving and client transportation requirements.
- Must maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record and remain insurable under agency policy.
- Successful completion of required background checks and onboarding requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience or credentials are preferred
- Lived experience with recovery or justice system involvement.
- Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential.
- New Jersey Certified Community Health Worker credential.
- Previous reentry or jail-based outreach experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

This position requires regular travel throughout both counties and work in outpatient, office, and community-based settings.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This position involves
- Sitting and computer use for extended periods.
- Frequent standing and walking.
