Position Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring skilled technicians, engineers, sales engineers, project managers, and other specialized professionals in the HVAC, hydronic heating, building automation, and controls industries. This role requires experience recruiting for technical trades and understanding the unique challenges of finding qualified talent in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) sector.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Source and recruit qualified candidates for HVAC technicians, service technicians, installers, engineers, sales engineers, project managers, and building automation specialists
  • Develop and maintain talent pipelines for hard-to-fill technical positions in hydronic heating, cooling systems, and building controls
  • Utilize multiple sourcing channels including trade schools, technical colleges, industry associations, and specialized job boards
  • Build relationships with HVAC, hydronic, and building automation training programs, apprenticeship organizations, community colleges, and technical schools
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with engineering schools for entry-level engineer and sales engineer recruitment
  • Manage recruitment activities for summer internship program including campus visits, career fairs, and student outreach
  • Attend job fairs, trade shows, and industry events to network and promote our company

Candidate Management

  • Conduct initial phone screenings and in-person interviews
  • Assess technical competencies and cultural fit for HVAC-specific roles
  • Coordinate technical assessments and skills testing with department managers
  • Manage candidate experience from initial contact through offer acceptance
  • Negotiate salary offers within approved guidelines and company pay scales

Partnership & Strategy

  • Partner closely with department managers to understand staffing needs and role requirements
  • Develop recruiting strategies for seasonal workforce planning, project-based hiring, and internship program management
  • Oversee summer internship recruitment process from initial outreach through intern selection and placement
  • Create compelling job descriptions that attract skilled tradespeople, engineers, and student interns
  • Maintain knowledge of HVAC industry trends, compensation benchmarks, and competitor analysis
  • Track and report on key recruiting metrics including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, source effectiveness, and internship program success rates
