Summary
- The Strategic Talent Sourcer supports the Talent Acquisition team by identifying, attracting, and engaging potential candidates for current and future openings. This role focuses on early-funnel activities such as sourcing, outreach, resume screening, and scheduling. The Strategic Talent Sourcer works to ensure UPHS has a strong pipeline of qualified candidates. This individual is responsible for proactively identifying, engaging, and cultivating top talent to meet the organization's current and future hiring needs. This role focuses on building strategic talent pipelines, developing creative sourcing strategies, and partnering closely with Talent Acquisition Partners and leaders to anticipate workforce demands. This role emphasizes research, market intelligence, and passive-candidate relationship building rather than full-cycle recruitment.
Responsibilities
Talent Sourcing & Pipeline Development
- Develop and execute innovative sourcing strategies to attract passive and active candidates across multiple channels (LinkedIn, job boards, social media, networking, referrals, talent communities, etc.).
- Build and maintain pipelines for high-volume, hard-to-fill, and critical roles.
- Conduct strategic research to identify target companies, competitor talent, market trends, and emerging skill sets.
- Create and manage talent communities to support ongoing engagement.
Candidate Engagement & Screening
- Reach out to passive candidates with compelling messaging aligned to organizational culture and role opportunities.
- Conduct high-level initial screens to assess skills, motivations, and overall fit.
- Maintain strong relationships with potential candidates to support future hiring needs.
Sourcing & Candidate Identification
- Support the Recruiter by sourcing candidates through job boards, social media, LinkedIn, resume databases, and networking channels.
- Conduct basic Boolean searches and utilize sourcing tools to identify potential candidates.
- Maintain organized talent pools and pipelines for common and frequently filled roles.
Candidate Outreach & Screening
- Support Conduct initial outreach and pre-qualification screens based on clear criteria provided by the Recruiter.
- Coordinate screening questionnaires, interest checks, and preliminary assessments.
- Schedule interviews between candidates and recruiters/hiring managers.
Recruiter Support & Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Talent Acquisition team to understand job requirements and revise sourcing strategies.
- Provide daily or weekly sourcing updates, including candidate flow, challenges, and recommendations.
- Prepare candidate summaries or recommendations for the Talent Acquisition Consultant to review.
- Assist with reference checks or background process coordination as needed.
Administrative & Technology Support
- Maintain accurate and timely information in the ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM).
- Assist with posting job advertisements to ensure visibility and compliance.
- Generate reports on sourcing activity, number of candidates contacted, response rates, and funnel progress.
- Support employer branding tasks, such as refreshing job postings or drafting outreach templates.
Candidate Experience
- Ensure candidates receive timely communication and updates throughout the early stages of the process.
- Represent the organization professionally during outreach and initial contact.
Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Education or Equivalent Experience
- H.S. Diploma/GED is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in sourcing, recruiting, or talent acquisition is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred. Education Specialization: Business, Human Resources or related field
- 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced, matrixed, or healthcare environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with diversity sourcing strategies and talent mapping is preferred.
