About us
Socrates is an AI-native platform for a new generation of business software. We bring models, data, agents, and applications together so companies can replace disconnected systems with software built around how they work. The underlying infrastructure is built in, giving businesses one foundation to manage their records, run their workflows, and put AI to work.
Our mission is to give businesses greater control over their technology and make it easier for people to create and use software with AI. We’ve raised a $23 million seed round to help build that future.
The Role
This is the senior-most technical recruiting seat at Socrates Systems. You are not ramping into ownership, you own it from day one: the interview process, the hiring manager relationships, and every pipeline call.
What you'll own
- Full-cycle technical recruiting for Socrates Systems, from open req to signed offer, across every engineering and technical role
- The interview process itself: scorecards, structured loops, and hiring manager calibration, building on the SWE assessment rubric already in place
- Every hiring manager relationship, starting with Chris Williams, CTO, and extending to whoever owns headcount as the team grows
- Pipeline health end to end: catching slow stages, weak sourcing channels, interviewer no-shows, and offer-stage drop-off before they become someone else's problem
- Recruiting strategy for Socrates Systems: leveling, comp bands, and how the function scales as headcount grows, not just filling what's open today
- The Linear-based hiring pipeline, kept current without being asked
- Offer construction with Anderson, including equity, using the existing ISO grant language and offer letter templates
Who you'll work with
- Reports to the COO
- Primary hiring managers: CTO, Chief Architect, and Chief Engineer
What success looks like
Day one: Absorbs the existing hiring infrastructure (SWE assessment rubric, structured funnel, rejection templates, offer templates) fast enough to run live requisitions independently within the first few weeks, not months.
Months 1-3: Owns every open technical req for Socrates Systems outright, pipeline health, hiring manager relationships, and reporting up, with Anderson only touching final offer approval.
Months 3-6: Has found and fixed at least one structural problem in the hiring process on their own initiative, not because Anderson flagged it.
Months 6-12: Has a real point of view on how the recruiting function should scale as Socrates Systems grows, and a plan for it, whether that means new tooling, new sourcing channels, or eventually a second recruiter.
Ongoing: No surprises about req status in Socrates All Leads Weekly. This person is the authority on technical hiring, full stop.
What you'll need
- 8+ years of technical recruiting, with real ownership of process design and recruiting strategy, not just sourcing or execution
- Experience as the senior-most or sole technical recruiter at a company this size (early-stage, high-context, high-ownership)
- A track record of building hiring process from scratch and defending it to skeptical hiring managers
- Direct experience running interview loops and calibration sessions with technical hiring managers, not just scheduling them
- Fluent with an ATS/pipeline tool (Linear, Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever) and willing to work in Linear specifically
- Can read a technical assessment rubric and have an informed conversation with a hiring manager about a candidate's signal, not just relay a score
- Comfortable setting recruiting strategy (leveling, comp bands, channel mix) without a manager telling you what "good" looks like
Nice to have
- Experience recruiting inside a multi-entity or holding-company structure
- Enough familiarity with equity compensation (ISOs, dilution) to speak to it with candidates
- Experience building or managing a small recruiting team, since this seat may grow into one
- Startup experience as the first or only recruiter in the building
