We’re looking for our next Senior Employer Brand Designer. Could It Be You?
As the Senior Employer Brand Designer, you serve as the enterprise visual steward and functional design authority for Questrade’s employer brand identity. Operating as an individual contributor on the Principal track and sitting at the strategic intersection of People & Culture (P&C), the Creative Shop, and Brand Creative, you lead the development, governance, and end-to-end visual storytelling strategy across all digital, physical, and experiential talent touchpoints.
Under the managerial direction of the Head of Employee Experience, you exercise broad operational independence to establish sub-brand visual standards within the overarching Master Brand framework. You govern and enhance the employer brand design system, translating candidate and employee insights into high-converting, compliant, and accessible brand experiences that position Questrade as the employer of choice for people who never settle—directing external creative partners and providing framework-level design leadership without requiring day-to-day creative supervision.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to

Employer Brand Visual Strategy & Framework Governance

  • Owning and governing the end-to-end visual expression of Questrade’s Employer Value Proposition (EVP), authoring sub-brand design guidelines that interpret and operate seamlessly within Master Brand guardrails.
  • Exercising determinative functional design authority across candidate-facing touchpoints, establishing visual standards, art direction, and brand application rules across the enterprise.
  • Determining the operational “how” to translate macro talent strategies into scalable creative systems, maintaining visual consistency across digital, physical, and experiential media.

Design System Architecture & Scalability

  • Architecting, codifying, and maintaining the centralized Employer Brand Design System—including Photoshop assets, Figma component libraries, design tokens, UI patterns, typography hierarchy, motion presets, and multi-channel asset suites that accelerate speed-to-market.
  • Resolving complex, structural design requirements and engineering novel components where pre-existing templates do not exist, ensuring maximum design agility.
  • Governing system adoption across P&C and Internal Communications, ensuring 100% brand fidelity, cross-platform responsiveness, and operational scalability.

Design Compliance, Accessibility & Brand QA

  • Establishing and leading the enterprise brand review and visual auditing process for all talent-attraction deliverables, holding final design QA sign-off authority prior to public deployment.
  • Ensuring comprehensive compliance with digital accessibility legislation (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA) and technical production standards across all digital and physical touchpoints.
  • Reviewing, critiquing, and directing the creative deliverables submitted by external marketing agencies, recruitment partners, and decentralized internal collaborators to enforce strict adherence to quality benchmarks.

Multi-Channel Creative Execution & Motion Design

  • Conceptualizing, art directing, and executing high-impact digital and analog collateral, including career platforms, campaign landing pages, programmatic ad suites, animated social campaigns, recruitment event spaces, and milestone onboarding packages, translating great design into the physical world.
  • Synthesizing talent analytics, candidate feedback, and user-testing data into adaptive visual solutions, dynamic motion graphics (After Effects), and interactive Figma prototypes that simplify complex employee value narratives and drive candidate engagement.
  • Partnering with Workplace Experience teams to shape the physical work environment, designing branded workplace graphics, environmental signage, and wayfinding installations.

Emerging Creative Tech & Workflow Optimization

  • Establishing and governing operational best practices for integrating Generative AI tools, procedural design workflows, and advanced prototyping technologies into the employer brand creative pipeline to elevate output quality and streamline asset production.

Cross-Functional Advisory & Strategic Alignment

  • Acting as the lead design consultant to P&C leadership and cross-functional partners in Product, UX/UI, Creative Shop, and Engineering, assessing technical feasibility while safeguarding visual integrity.
  • Leveraging persuasive reasoning and consultative influence to align senior stakeholders and external creative vendors behind unified employer brand standards without relying on direct supervisory hierarchy.

So are YOU our next Senior Employer Brand Designer? You are if you…

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Interaction Design, Digital Media, or equivalent practical discipline
  • Have 5+ years of dedicated professional experience in visual design, brand identity, or digital creative roles within a corporate or agency environment, including demonstrable background leading design systems or brand governance
  • Have proven capability to author, document, and govern scalable design systems (Figma auto-layout, component variants, and token structures) and enforce framework standards across decentralized cross-functional teams
  • Possess advanced proficiency across Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), and modern prototyping platforms
  • Have solid technical grounding in offline print production, environmental graphics, large-format specifications, and colour management (CMYK, Pantone)
  • Possess deep operational command of responsive web principles, HTML/CSS layout constraints, and digital accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA)
  • Have a demonstrated track record of articulating technical design rationale, negotiating solutions with senior stakeholders, and guiding external agency partners with high operational independence
  • Have experience building or managing employer brand identities or sub-brand systems within a fast-paced financial services or technology enterprise
  • Have practical experience integrating Generative AI image, motion, or layout tooling into creative production pipelines
  • Have experience collaborating with talent acquisition teams to leverage recruitment funnel metrics, candidate conversion analytics, and A/B test results to inform design iterations

Compensation Information

  • Base salary range: $85,000 - $100,000
  • The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
