Annual Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 subject to experience and qualifications as outlined within.
Location:Primary work location will be Bedford Park, IL although travel to other sites and locations will be required.
Position Summary
The Skilled Labor Recruiter is responsible for sourcing, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified skilled trades professionals to support the organization's workforce needs. This position partners closely with operational leaders to develop effective recruiting strategies, build talent pipelines, and attract top talent in highly competitive labor markets. The Recruiter plays a critical role in ensuring the organization maintains a strong workforce by proactively identifying candidates, leveraging multiple recruitment channels, and delivering exceptional candidate experience throughout the hiring extending into the onboarding processes.
Essential Functions
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for skilled trades positions, from job requisition intake through offer acceptance.
- Ensure EEO and employment law compliance throughout the job posting, interviewing, screening, and hiring process.
- Develop recruiting strategies and actively source vendors and resources to find and attract qualified candidates.
- Partner with HR leadership and marketing teams to ensure recruitment kits, brochures, and messaging fits labor roles.
- Alongside leadership and marketing, evaluate social media recruitment presence and opportunities.
- Approach recruiting process as a sales and marketing role, utilize creative resources and techniques to find/attract talent.
- Promote company’s culture, benefits, internal training programs, tuition programs, and career growth opportunities.
- Consult with hiring managers on staffing needs, job and skills requirements, interview scheduling.
- Post roles through HRIS, ensuring company marketing messaging is appropriate and pay equity requirements met.
- Proactively source candidates through trade and vocational schools, technical programs, job boards and social media.
- Represent the company at trade school and vocational job fairs, career days, and trade association events.
- Manage skilled labor employee referral program – review and approve referral payments then send to payroll.
- Screen resumes and applications for relevant trade licenses, certifications and overall job fit with open roles.
- Develop interview templates, rubrics for prescreen, hiring manager, and panel style interviews – include behavior based.
- Conduct structured prescreen interviews assessing technical competency, safety mindset, and customer-facing skills.
- Coordinate technical assessments as part of the pre-interview screening process before hiring manager interviews.
- Conduct reference checks and verify and obtain copies of licensure and/or certifications required prior to offer process.
- Manage the job offer process including drafting and sending offer letters, job descriptions, and any others as needed.
- Partner with the Onboarding Specialist to ensure smooth transition and consistent follow up through onboarding process.
- Maintain accurate recruiting records, applicant tracking data and ensure timely updates in system and with management.
- Track and report on requisition status, time-to-fill, source-of-hire, offer acceptance rates and pipeline metrics.
- Prepare recruiting reports and hiring metrics for leadership review.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field is required.
- 5+ years of high-volume skilled labor recruiting experience in comparable competitive market.
- Prior experience managing ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) required with prior implementation experience preferred.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual English and Spanish and/ or English and Polish strongly preferred.
