Work Hours: Monday - Friday

Primary Location: San Diego (In Office, potential for Hybrid)

Salary: $58 – 60k annually

Who You Are

You’re an experienced, people-focused HR professional who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting employees throughout the employee lifecycle. You bring 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist role, along with 2–4 years of recruitment and leave of absence (LOA) experience. You’re organized, detail-oriented, approachable, and comfortable balancing competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. You enjoy partnering with employees and managers, navigating HR processes, and finding practical solutions to everyday workplace needs. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required, and SHRM certification is preferred. Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is a plus.

What You'll Do

Recruiting and sourcing

  • Manage the full recruiting process for the agency, from job posting and sourcing through screening, interviews and offers
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews, confirming every detail so candidates and interviewers show up prepared and on time
  • Represent TMI at job fairs, college and community career events, and local workforce programs to build a steady flow of qualified candidates
  • Manage our relationships and job postings with third-party vendors and job boards such as Indeed and ZipRecruiter. Track how each posting performs and move spending to the sources that bring the best hires
  • Keep up with new recruiting trends, tools and best practices, and bring ideas that help us attract and keep great people

Offers and pre-employment

  • Prepare and send offer letters, double-checking every detail (names, titles, pay rates and hiring managers) before they go out
  • Start and review background checks and pre-employment requirements, and escalate concerns quickly when something needs attention

Candidate and new hire experience

  • Host candidates on-site: greet them when they arrive, run the day's logistics, and make a great first impression of TMI
  • Give facility tours to new hires so they feel oriented and welcome from day one
  • Serve as the main point of contact for new hires throughout onboarding, including communication, orientation and follow-up

HR operations and compliance

  • Enter, maintain and audit data in HR databases so records stay accurate and up to date
  • Build and maintain complete, compliant personnel files
  • Monitor the HR inbox and respond to or route questions promptly
  • Assist with terminations as directed, following all established processes
  • Work with the HR team and other departments to keep HR operations running smoothly
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

Education

  • Associate's degree preferred

Experience and skills

  • 2 years of experience as a recruiting coordinator or in a similar role
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication with candidates, new hires and managers
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and adjust quickly when priorities change
  • Sharp attention to detail and strong organizational skills, even with many tasks in motion at once
  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential employee and candidate information
  • Comfort learning new technology and systems
