Arc Institute is an independent nonprofit research organization at the interface of artificial intelligence and biology, working to accelerate scientific progress and understand the root causes of complex diseases. Founded in 2021 and based in Palo Alto, Arc partners with Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco.

About the position
Arc Institute is growing and we're looking for a Recruiter with full cycle recruiting experience across life sciences, biotech, or scientific research. This role will focus on hiring across several of our Technology Centers, including but not limited to multi-omics, genome engineering, cellular modeling, mammalian disease modeling, and computational biology. Our ideal candidate brings a broad scientific recruiting background, experience hiring for leadership positions, and is deeply aligned with our mission and excited to curate an amazing candidate experience.

In this position you will
- Own the full cycle recruiting process for various roles across Arc's Technology Centers, building robust pipelines through active multi-channel sourcing, resume screening, interviewing, and offer closing.
- Build strong relationships with a wide range of hiring managers across functions and seniority levels, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the recruiting process — including setting clear expectations, influencing interview and evaluation decisions, and keeping stakeholders aligned and accountable.
- Contribute to building and iterating on efficient, scalable recruiting processes alongside the broader recruiting team.
- Represent Arc's mission and values with every candidate interaction.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree and 8+ years of full cycle life sciences recruiting; in-house recruiting experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience owning a diverse portfolio of roles across scientific functions and levels, including direct experience hiring for senior and leadership roles
- Experience recruiting within relevant biology areas (genome engineering, cellular engineering, multi-omics, molecular/cell biology, neuroscience, etc.)
- Strong sourcing and closing skills, with a track record of attracting and converting passive candidates, including passive senior-level talent
- Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders across functions and levels, including senior leaders, with confidence and credibility
- Track record of acting as a true hiring partner — setting expectations, pushing back constructively when needed, and guiding hiring managers through the full recruiting process
- Proficiency with an ATS (Greenhouse or similar) and a commitment to data integrity
- Familiarity with sourcing and CRM tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter and Gem
- Strong analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and wearing many hats in a growing organization
- Collaborative, calm under pressure, and energized by team success
- Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding hiring goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting for computational roles such as Machine Learning Research Scientists, Computational Biologists, or Bioinformatics Scientists
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $186,000. These amounts reflect the range of base salary that the Institute reasonably would expect to pay a new hire or internal candidate for this position. The actual base compensation paid to any individual for this position may vary depending on factors such as experience, market conditions, education/training, skill level, and whether the compensation is internally equitable, and does not include bonuses, commissions, differential pay, other forms of compensation, or benefits. This position is also eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus, with the amount dependent on individual and institute performance factors.
