Empire Life is looking to hire a Recruiter - 12 month contract to join our Talent Acquisition team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current, open position. The Recruiter manages the full-cycle recruitment process for assigned portfolios, acting as the primary point of contact for candidates and post-secondary institutions. This role acts as a brand steward, ensuring a high-quality candidate experience while leveraging modern sourcing tools to identify top talent to fill open roles and generate strong candidate pipelines.
The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $79,200-126,500. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
This is a 12 month contract opportunity. Fixed-term contract and casual roles are not eligible for annual bonus and would receive only the base salary component.

What you’ll be working on
- Brand Stewardship & Candidate Experience
- Acts as a brand ambassador by ensuring all communications, social media outreach, and market interactions reflect the company’s values and culture.
- Manages and maintains active, transparent communication with candidates throughout the hiring process, ensuring a professional "exit" for those not selected to protect the employer brand.
- Acts as a primary point of contact for post-secondary institutions, initiating on-campus activities and managing event logistics to promote the company to emerging talent.
- Sourcing & Technical Expertise
- Builds a strong pipeline of talent through social media, referral programs, and creative strategies to identify both active and passive candidates.
- Utilizes and maintains in-depth knowledge of talent acquisition tools, resources, and HRMS applications to manage the life cycle of assigned requisitions.
- Participates in professional development and networking to increase understanding of key recruiting trends and digital tools within the Canadian financial landscape.
- Operational Excellence & Lifecycle Management
- Manages the entire life cycle of assigned requisitions, from conducting intake meetings to successful candidate onboarding.
- Develops competitive offers that consider all available data and internal equity while adhering to company policies to effectively close candidates.
- Maintains high integrity in the HRMS/ATS, ensuring accurate reporting and insights into recruitment metrics.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives and other HR or recruitment-related projects as required to enhance team efficiency.
- Consultation, Compliance & Diversity
- Partners with hiring managers and HR stakeholders to gain a solid understanding of staffing needs and provide professional guidance throughout the selection process.
- Ensures all recruitment activities adhere to Canadian employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Human Rights Code, and AODA.
- Leads and assists with driving inclusion and diversity initiatives for campus programs and broader recruitment campaigns.
What we’re looking for you to have

- Completion of a post-secondary program in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
- 2+ years of full-cycle recruitment experience, or relevant experience in HR, sales, or business development within a corporate environment.
- Experience with recruitment tools such as LinkedIn and different application tracking systems (ATS’)
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proven success in working independently in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
- Strong business acumen and ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
- Exceptional client relationship skills; ability to develop strong relationships quickly and maximize resources effectively to achieve goals.
- Well-developed personal time management and organizational skills.
