Human Resources Manager / Talent Acquisition Specialist

MountainCreek Property Group

Uniontown, PA

Full-Time | In-Office

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience

Join the MountainCreek Property Group Team

MountainCreek Property Group is seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly organized Human Resources Manager/Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our team at our home office in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. The Company currently employs and operates in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Experience managing Human Resources across multiple states would be highly beneficial in this role.

This is a hands-on HR leadership position responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle across our organization, with a significant emphasis on recruiting and talent acquisition.

One of your most important responsibilities will be helping us find great people to operate and maintain our properties—particularly Maintenance Technicians and Property Managers. You’ll work directly with company leadership and our property teams to understand staffing needs, build candidate pipelines, improve our hiring process, and make sure our teams have the people they need to succeed.

At the same time, you’ll serve as the primary HR resource for our organization, overseeing onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, HR compliance, policies, and day-to-day employee needs.

We’re looking for someone who wants to own the HR function, not simply process paperwork.

What You’ll Do

Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

Recruiting will be a major focus of this position.

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for Maintenance Technicians, Property Managers, and other property-level and corporate positions
  • Partner directly with leadership and managers to anticipate and identify staffing needs
  • Create and manage compelling job postings across Indeed and other recruiting platforms
  • Proactively source candidates rather than relying solely on incoming applications
  • Review applications and conduct initial candidate screenings
  • Coordinate interviews and maintain timely communication with candidates and hiring managers
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for frequently hired and difficult-to-fill positions
  • Develop new recruiting strategies and identify additional sources for quality candidates
  • Prepare and extend employment offers
  • Coordinate background checks and other pre-employment requirements
  • Track open positions, recruiting activity, time-to-fill, turnover, and other hiring trends
  • Continuously look for ways to improve our recruiting process and strengthen our ability to attract and retain great employees

Onboarding & Employee Experience

  • Manage the complete onboarding process for all new employees
  • Prepare and process new-hire documentation
  • Conduct or coordinate new-hire orientation
  • Ensure employees are properly established in HR, payroll, benefits, and other company systems
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records
  • Coordinate required new-hire training and documentation
  • Process promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and other employee status changes
  • Help create a positive and consistent employee experience from day one

Employee Relations & HR Management

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers
  • Provide guidance to management regarding employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, and company policies
  • Assist with performance reviews, corrective actions, and employee documentation
  • Respond to employee questions regarding policies, benefits, payroll, leave, and other HR matters
  • Partner with leadership on employee engagement and retention initiatives
  • Identify staffing and employee trends and provide recommendations to management
  • Coordinate events related to recruiting, employee referral programs, etc.
  • Promote consistent application of company policies and HR practices throughout the organization

Offboarding

  • Manage voluntary and involuntary employee separations
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate separation documentation
  • Coordinate final payroll information, benefits notifications, company property returns, and termination of system access
  • Conduct exit interviews when appropriate
  • Monitor turnover and exit trends to identify opportunities to improve employee retention

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records and required HR documentation
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Coordinate benefits administration and annual open enrollment
  • Manage or assist with workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, employee leave, and related HR matters
  • Maintain and update company policies, employee handbooks, job descriptions, and HR forms
  • Coordinate personnel changes and employee information with payroll
  • Maintain required HR reporting and recordkeeping
  • Assist leadership with HR-related projects and organizational initiatives

Who We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate understands that great HR requires both strong people skills and strong follow-through.

You might spend part of your morning sourcing candidates for an open maintenance position, work with a Property Manager on an employee issue that afternoon, and finish the day preparing for a new employee’s first day.

You’ll be a great fit if you

  • Genuinely enjoy recruiting and get satisfaction from filling difficult positions
  • Are comfortable proactively reaching out to candidates instead of waiting for applications to come in
  • Are approachable and able to build trust with employees at every level of an organization
  • Can move quickly when one of our properties has an urgent staffing need
  • Have excellent judgment and know when an issue requires discretion and confidentiality
  • Can manage multiple priorities without losing track of the details
  • Are resourceful and comfortable taking ownership of a problem
  • Look for ways to improve processes rather than simply maintaining the status quo
  • Want the opportunity to make the HR function your own and have a meaningful impact on a growing organization

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an HR Manager, HR Generalist, Talent Acquisition Manager, or similar HR role
  • Demonstrated full-cycle recruiting experience
  • Experience recruiting for multifamily property management, maintenance/skilled trades, construction, facilities management, or similar industries is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of employment laws in various states and HR best practices
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, HRIS/payroll platforms, and online recruiting tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple open positions and competing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, property managers, and company leadership
  • Sound judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
