Job Summary
The Talent Acquisition Specialist reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and serves as a key member of the HR team, with primary responsibility for talent acquisition, recruiting strategy, college and university relationships, and talent pipeline development.
This role manages full-cycle recruitment for clinical and administrative positions while developing relationships with colleges, universities, professional organizations, and community partners to create sustainable talent pipelines. The role also supports key HR Generalist functions, including employee relations, onboarding, HR documentation, HRIS administration, compliance, and policy administration.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, relationship-driven, and comfortable working independently. Strong judgment, discernment, discretion, communication skills, and the ability to recognize when to escalate an issue are essential.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Brandon administrative office, with occasional local travel to BCOTB clinics, colleges, universities, career fairs, and recruiting events.
Essential Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process for clinical and administrative positions, from sourcing through offer acceptance.
- Partner with HR and Clinical Leadership to understand staffing needs, qualifications, and hiring priorities.
- Develop creative sourcing strategies through job boards, networking, referrals, social media, colleges, universities, professional organizations, and community partnerships.
- Screen applications, conduct initial interviews, evaluate candidates, and make informed recommendations regarding candidate advancement.
- Coordinate interviews, offers, pre-employment requirements, and candidate communications.
- Maintain accurate recruiting records, monitor hiring activity, and proactively communicate recruiting challenges and recommendations.
College, University & Talent Pipeline Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, technical schools, professional organizations, and community partners to build sustainable talent pipelines.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for designated academic and community partners.
- Represent BCOTB at career fairs, networking events, university information sessions, classroom presentations, and other recruiting events.
- Develop partnerships supporting internships, practicums, fieldwork, volunteer opportunities, and future employment.
- Build and maintain pipelines of qualified candidates for current and anticipated hiring needs.
- Track recruiting partnerships and identify opportunities to expand BCOTB's talent network.
Onboarding
- Coordinate the new hire onboarding process, including documentation, pre-employment requirements, HRIS processes, and orientation.
- Partner with department leaders to ensure new hires are prepared for a successful first day.
- Serve as a resource to new employees throughout the onboarding process and identify opportunities to improve the candidate-to-employee transition.
HR Generalist Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and managers while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources with employee relations matters, including documentation, coaching, investigations, corrective action, and follow-up.
- Address routine questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, timekeeping, attendance, and other employment matters.
- Exercise sound judgment in determining which matters can be handled independently and which require escalation.
- Support the consistent application of company policies and procedures.
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Manage HRIS updates, reporting, employment verifications, policy acknowledgements, and other HR processes.
- Support compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies.
- Assist with HR audits, compliance reviews, and other documentation requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling employee and candidate information.
HR Projects & Process Improvement
- Partner with the Director of Human Resources on HR initiatives and special projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve recruiting, onboarding, and HR processes.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Maintain and analyze HR and recruiting data and prepare reports as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications or a related field, or equivalent professional experience with SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, human resources, or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Strong judgment and discernment, particularly when evaluating candidates and handling sensitive employee matters.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and effectively use HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
Preferred
- Full-cycle recruiting experience.
- HR Generalist experience.
- Experience recruiting within healthcare, behavioral health, education, or human services.
- Experience developing college, university, or community recruiting partnerships.
- Experience with employee relations, HR documentation, or employment compliance.
- Familiarity with Paycor, Indeed, Handshake, or similar systems.
