Position Summary

The HR Generalist/Recruiter is responsible for managing full-cycle recruiting for assigned positions while providing day-to-day HR operational support across the organization. This position partners closely with hiring managers and operations leaders to manage recruiting activities from requisition through onboarding, including sourcing, applicant review, screening, interview coordination, offers, pre-employment requirements, and new-hire follow-up.

Approximately 50% of the position will focus on recruiting and talent acquisition, the other 50% will be focused on general HR matters such as employee inquiries, HRIS and employee records, I-9/E-Verify, onboarding, training tracking, benefits and leave coordination, compliance documentation, reporting, employee engagement, and other HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Full-cycle Recruiting

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for assigned positions, from requisition through successful hire and onboarding.
  • Recruit for a diverse range of positions, including manufacturing/production, skilled trades, administrative and professional roles.
  • Partner with hiring managers and operations leaders to understand staffing needs, job requirements, qualifications, and hiring timelines.
  • Facilitate the candidate selection process and provide guidance to hiring managers as appropriate.
  • Develop and post compelling job descriptions and employment advertisements.
  • Post positions on relevant job boards and recruiting platforms and proactively source candidates through LinkedIn, employee referrals, community resources, professional networks, and other channels.
  • Review applications and resumes to identify qualified candidates
  • Conduct initial phone or video screening interviews.
  • Coordinate interviews with hiring managers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistent communication with candidates throughout the hiring process and provide a positive candidate experience.
  • Coordinate and track pre-employment requirements, background checks, drug screens, physicals, and other required screenings through completion.
  • Prepare and coordinate employment offers in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate candidate information and recruiting activity in the ATS/HRIS.
  • Develop and maintain candidate pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill positions.
  • Track recruiting activity, hiring timelines, and other key recruiting metrics.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to sourcing strategies, recruiting processes, and the overall candidate experience.
  • Build relationships with local schools, technical programs, workforce organizations, community partners, and other recruiting resources as appropriate.
  • Manage and administer recruitment reporting to leadership.
  • Track and report on HR metrics such as turnover, headcount, and engagement.

HR Generalist Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and general HR-related matters.
  • Support HR activities across both union and non-union employee populations, in partnership with HR team.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new employees, monitor onboarding requirements, and follow up on outstanding new-hire documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS information, including completion and maintenance of Form I-9 and E-Verify documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support the administration and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Support HR compliance initiatives and ensure required documentation is maintained.
  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, wellness programs and employee communications.
  • Assist with tracking all leave of absence, including FMLA, STD/LTD, ADA, military and personal leaves.
  • Prepare HR reports and maintain accurate data within the HRIS and other HR systems.
  • Assist with employee engagement, recognition, and culture initiatives.
  • Support offboarding and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and candidate information.
  • Assist with HR reporting, compliance activities, audits, and special projects.
  • Stay current on applicable employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Support HR compliance activities and the consistent application of applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Coordinate and track required annual compliance training, including sexual harassment prevention, Code of Conduct, and other assigned training programs; maintain training records and follow up on outstanding requirements.
  • Assist with internal HR audits and prepare documentation for external audits as needed.
  • Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous HR experience in supporting a union manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience recruiting skilled trades, production, maintenance, or other manufacturing roles
  • Experience developing relationships with technical schools, workforce development organizations, or other community recruiting partners.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, growing, or multi-site organization.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field is highly preferred.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in recruiting, human resources, or combination of both.
  • Strong interviewing, candidate assessment, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple positions and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now Software, preferred.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

The salary range for this position is $70,000–$80,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.

This position is based in our Overland Park, Kansas office and operates on a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of in-office and remote work based on business and team needs.
