Position Summary

The Foster Care Recruiter is responsible for recruiting, screening, and enrolling foster families, treatment foster families, and Host Homes to support Lutheran Services Carolinas' Child and Family programs. This position plays a vital role in expanding LSC's network of caregivers by building relationships within the community, promoting foster care opportunities, and guiding prospective families through the recruitment and enrollment process.

For Transitional Living Foster Care programs, this role will focus on recruiting and supporting Host Homes rather than traditional foster or treatment foster families.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Represent Lutheran Services Carolinas professionally throughout the community.
  • Develop and implement annual recruitment and promotional plans for foster families, treatment foster families, and Host Homes.
  • Promote foster parenting and Host Home opportunities to individuals, organizations, faith communities, and community groups within targeted service areas.
  • Utilize LSC's established marketing, outreach, and sales strategies to achieve recruitment goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with referral sources and community partners.
  • Identify and engage prospective foster parents and Host Home providers through community outreach and networking efforts.
  • Educate potential caregivers on foster care programs, requirements, expectations, and levels of care.
  • Screen prospective foster parents and Host Home providers to determine program fit and eligibility.
  • Partner with program staff to support enrollment and licensing processes for qualified families and Host Homes.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records, contact logs, and outreach data.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all prospects, families, and community partners.
  • Follow all Lutheran Services Carolinas policies, procedures, and program standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum Associate's degree required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred in Communications, Marketing, Human Services, Social Work, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, sales, public relations, communications, recruitment, or community outreach.
  • Experience related to foster care, child welfare, or human services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of foster care programs and licensing requirements is a plus.

  • Comfortable speaking to individuals, groups, and large audiences.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking communication skills.
  • Strong promotional, networking, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Self-motivated, goal-driven, and able to work independently.
  • Strong time-management and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to learn and effectively communicate foster care requirements and program information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned service regions.

Working Conditions

  • Position may be home-based depending on location and program needs.
  • Frequent computer and office work.
  • Extensive community outreach and local travel required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and navigate various community locations.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule required, including occasional evenings and weekends to attend community events, presentations, and recruitment activities.
