Recruiting Assistant — Part-Time, 6-Month Contract

Location: Remote/Hybrid
Schedule: Part-time, Monday through Thursday, 20 hours per week
Contract duration: Six months
Compensation: $20/hr.
Reports to: Manager of Talent Acquisition

Position Overview

Southminster is seeking a detail-oriented Recruiting Assistant for a part-time, six-month contract assignment. This position will support the team with screening candidates, verifying licenses, interview coordination, candidate communication, and applicant tracking system maintenance.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, and comfortable managing competing priorities while providing a professional and welcoming candidate experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate phone, video, and in-person interviews.
  • Communicate interview details, scheduling updates, and next steps to candidates promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records, interview statuses, and recruiting activity in Paycom which is our applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Post and update approved job openings on the company’s careers page and designated job boards.
  • Assist with resume reviews and initial candidate outreach based on criteria established by the Manager of Talent Acquisition.
  • Electronically prepare interview materials and follow up with interviewers to collect feedback.
  • Support recruiting reports by tracking candidate activity, open positions, and scheduling progress.
  • Assist with related administrative projects as needed.
  • Handle candidate and employee information with discretion and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to work the agreed part-time schedule, 20 hours per week, and maintain the weekly performance expectations throughout the six-month assignment.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ prior experience in recruiting coordination or HR support.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, performance expectations, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Excel.
  • Experience with Paycom or a similar ATS system is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Manager of Talent Acquisition.

Schedule and Assignment

This is a part-time contract assignment lasting six months, with an anticipated start date of November 2, 2026. The expected schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with availability during the hours of 12:30p – 5:30p and consistent Microsoft Teams communication throughout those scheduled hours.

Any extension of the assignment will depend on business needs and is not guaranteed.
