Job Description

Stetson University seeks an Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment to serve as the primary admissions representative for the New York and New Jersey territory. Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions, this regionally based position is responsible for developing and executing a strategic recruitment plan, managing a geographic territory, building relationships with students, families, school counselors, and community partners, and representing Stetson University at recruitment events.
The successful candidate will reside within the assigned territory and work remotely while traveling extensively throughout the region. Periodic travel to DeLand, Florida, is required for training, meetings, and university events. This position requires exceptional communication skills, strategic relationship-building abilities, and a student-centered approach to recruitment and enrollment management.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment is responsible for the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of prospective students from the New York and New Jersey region.

  • Communicate regularly with prospective students and families through phone calls, email, text messaging, handwritten notes, virtual meetings, individual appointments, and group presentations.
  • Plan and execute student recruitment activities, including extensive outreach and travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • Reside within the assigned territory and represent Stetson University at college fairs, high school visits, counselor events, receptions, and other recruitment activities to increase institutional visibility and enrollment outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a territory management and recruitment strategy designed to meet enrollment goals while attracting academically qualified and mission-aligned students.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, independent educational consultants, and community partners within the assigned territory; invite counselors to campus visit programs and special events.
  • Conduct individual counseling appointments, group presentations, receptions, and other recruitment events for prospective students and families.
  • Partner with Undergraduate Admissions and University Marketing to promote recruitment initiatives, events, and enrollment opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records within Technolutions Slate CRM, including student engagement, territory activity, application progress, and recruitment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Admissions to establish and achieve recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Review applications and supporting documents, evaluate candidates for admission, and present recommendations in accordance with university policies and procedures.
  • Review applicants for scholarship consideration and assist with merit award recommendations.
  • Counsel students and families regarding the financial aid process, scholarship opportunities, and enrollment affordability considerations.
  • Stay informed regarding trends and best practices in higher education recruitment, enrollment management, and regional admissions.
  • Participate in professional organizations and regional admissions networks to maintain market knowledge and professional expertise.
  • Cultivate relationships with alumni, school counselors, and other constituents to support recruitment efforts and strengthen Stetson University's presence within the territory.
  • Manage a flexible schedule that includes frequent evening and weekend commitments, particularly during peak recruitment periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Residence within the assigned New York or New Jersey territory.
  • Minimum of two years of admissions, recruitment, enrollment management, higher education, sales, counseling, or related experience.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to meet institutional insurability requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively and effectively in a remote work environment.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Extensive travel throughout the assigned territory, particularly during peak recruitment seasons (estimated 60-75% travel).
  • Ability to transport recruitment materials and displays weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Periodic travel to the DeLand, Florida campus for training, meetings, and university events.

Work authorization sponsorship may be available for this position. However, sponsorship is contingent upon the non-applicability of the visa petition fees outlined in the relevant Executive Order signed September 19, 2025.
