Summary

Responsible for leading and overseeing all of the firm’s attorney recruiting efforts at every level, including entry-level, lateral, and partner hires, in conjunction with the CTO, Managing Partners, Department Heads, and Practice Group Leaders. In addition, this position oversees the integration of new attorney hires into the firm and provides general oversight of the firm’s associates, including conducting regular one-on-one meetings with all associates, monitoring workload and satisfaction, and escalating concerns or needs for development as appropriate.

Essential Functions

Lead and manage all attorney recruiting efforts at every level, including entry-level, lateral, and partner hires
Develop and execute recruiting strategies in conjunction with the CTO, Managing Partners, Department Heads, and Practice Group Leaders
Develop and maintain relationships with candidate sourcing channels, including outside recruiting firms, law schools, and judges who regularly send the firm judicial clerk applicants
Manage the full recruiting lifecycle, including sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiation, and onboarding
Oversee the applicant tracking process and seek ways to improve its efficiency and accuracy on an ongoing basis
Oversee the integration process for all new hires to ensure a smooth transition into the firm
Serve as the primary point of contact for associate oversight, including conducting regular one-on-one meetings with all firm associates
Identify and escalate associate performance or other concerns, working closely to address them with the Professional Development & Recruiting Manager
Develop and manage recruiting and retention policies
Maintain the firm’s offer letter templates and search firm agreements, and oversee annual compliance review of those materials in coordination with the General Counsel, Ethics Counsel, and Employment Counsel
Participate in strategy related to associate compensation and bonus programs
Oversee and implement the PDR department budget, in conjunction with the CTO and the Professional Development & Recruiting Manager
Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of the firm’s recruiting-related data, including tracking key metrics to inform recruiting strategy and reporting
Regularly assess available recruiting-related technology and proactively identify tools and platforms that could enhance the recruiting team’s efficiency and effectiveness
Participate as a senior member of the firm’s management, which currently includes an ex-officio role on the DEI Committee and oversight of the Associate Committee
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

Proven ability to build cohesive, well-functioning teams and support effective new-hire integration
Thorough understanding of attorney recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Experience with partner-level recruiting
Experience developing or implementing new-hire integration programs
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong presentation skills
Ability to adapt to the needs of the firm
Strong time and project management skills and ability to effectively delegate
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the firm’s HRIS, applicant tracking, onboarding, and talent/performance management systems

Supervisory Role

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Recruiting & Professional Development Assistant (alongside the Professional Development & Recruiting Manager), and the indirect supervision of all non-partner attorneys.

Work Environment

This position requires the employee to work in a professional office environment at least four days per week. Because the employee will handle sensitive firm information, the employee must work from a home office and not a public location during any remote periods. The employee will routinely use standard office equipment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position may require long hours and weekend work.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree

10 years of progressively responsible work experience

Preferred Education and Experience

Work experience in a law firm or law school
