Job Summary
The Associate Director of Outreach, Recruitment, Retention, and Grants will work under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Academic Programs to lead, implement, and assess all the operations of the Outreach and Recruitment Office and of all the MESA programs in the college. The incumbent will also be responsible for identifying opportunities and participating in the development of internal and external grant proposals to support recruitment and retention of students in engineering. The selected individual will collaborate with faculty and staff in the Engineering Student Success Center to organize and host outreach and recruitment events. Finally, the incumbent will collaborate with the Learning Communities Coordinator on the recruitment in, and implementation and administration of existing and new retention programs in the college, and with the Recruitment and Outreach Specialist on outreach and fundraising activities to increase the recruitment of high school and community college students in engineering programs at CSULB.
Key Responsibilities
- Outreach, Recruitment, Retention Activities: Develop and maintain sustaining working relationships with ESSC staff, College of Engineering faculty, middle and high school with district and school site personnel, including school board superintendents, principals, teachers, and counselors.
- Planning, Administration and Implementation of New Student Recruitment and Retention Programs.
- Grant Development and Fund Raising: Identify opportunities for funding college initiatives to increase recruitment and retention of students in engineering and collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs, faculty and staff on the development of internal and external grant proposal to support student success initiatives and events.
- MESA Program Planning, Development, Implementation, Administration and Assessment.
- Program Planning and Statewide MESA Participation.

Compensation
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
- Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,320 - $6,750 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $6,320 - $9,014 per month.

Education and Experience
REQUIRED: Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university in counseling, education, human relations, STEM or related fields plus upper division or graduate course work in job related fields. Four years of professional student services work experience.
Live Scan required.
PREFERRED: Masters or higher degree in a related field. Experience in developing grant proposals, in interacting with STEM schools and engineering industry and involvement in fundraising activities.
Long distance travel to monthly and quarterly MESA statewide meetings and conferences is mandatory.
Licenses
Valid Driver's License required. Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on University business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
