About 5th Axis
5th Axis is a leading U.S. manufacturer of CNC workholding, automation, and manufacturing solutions. We operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where quality, innovation, and execution matter. Our team supports customers throughout the manufacturing industry with products designed and manufactured in Southern California.
Position Summary
5th Axis is seeking an experienced Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our HR team on a temporary, part-time basis. This role will provide hands-on recruiting support across our manufacturing operations, with a primary focus on sourcing qualified candidates, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and maintaining strong candidate pipelines.
We are looking for someone with proven recruiting experience in a manufacturing, CNC machining, aerospace, industrial, or similar technical environment who can quickly contribute to our current hiring efforts.
This is an execution-focused recruiting role. You will partner with HR and hiring managers to understand established position requirements and take an active role in finding and engaging qualified candidates through job postings, resume searches, direct outreach, referrals, schools, workforce resources, and other sourcing channels.
What You'll Do
- Source qualified candidates for manufacturing, operations, quality, engineering, technical, supervisory, and support positions.
- Proactively identify and engage passive candidates through resume databases, direct outreach, professional networks, referrals, and other sourcing methods.
- Post, maintain, and refresh job advertisements across appropriate recruiting platforms.
- Review resumes and applications against established position requirements and hiring criteria.
- Conduct initial phone screens to assess relevant experience, qualifications, availability, compensation expectations, location, and overall fit.
- Identify and recommend qualified candidates for advancement in the interview process.
- Coordinate interviews between candidates, HR, hiring managers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain timely communication and follow-up with candidates throughout the recruiting process.
- Build and maintain candidate pipelines for recurring and difficult-to-fill manufacturing positions.
- Conduct outreach to trade schools, colleges, workforce programs, veteran resources, and other potential talent sources.
- Maintain accurate candidate records, recruiting activity, and status within the applicant tracking system.
- Partner with HR and hiring managers to understand recruiting priorities and keep open positions moving through the hiring process.
- Support offer and pre-employment coordination as needed.
- Track recruiting activity, candidate flow, sourcing efforts, and open-position status.
- Represent 5th Axis professionally and provide candidates with a responsive and organized recruiting experience.
- Perform other recruiting-related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience.
- Demonstrated recruiting experience within manufacturing, CNC machining, aerospace, industrial production, or a closely related technical environment.
- Experience recruiting skilled manufacturing talent such as CNC machinists, quality personnel, maintenance technicians, production employees, manufacturing professionals, supervisors, or similar positions.
- Demonstrated experience actively sourcing candidates, not solely managing inbound applications.
- Experience using job boards, resume databases, direct outreach, referrals, networking, schools, and other sourcing channels.
- Ability to review manufacturing resumes and identify relevant technical, production, and leadership experience.
- Experience conducting candidate phone screens and making sound initial qualification decisions.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills with the ability to manage multiple open positions and candidate pipelines simultaneously.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with HR and hiring managers.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, and online recruiting tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Paycor experience is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework, a degree, or professional training in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Previous hands-on recruiting experience in a manufacturing or closely related technical environment is required.
Schedule
This is a temporary, part-time position, anticipated at approximately 20–25 hours per week.
Regular availability during normal business hours is required to conduct candidate outreach and phone screens, coordinate interviews, and communicate with hiring managers.
