Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field. Two years of experience in one or more areas of Human Resources or a related area. Experience in the area of staffing would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs highly advanced specialist duties for the People Operations – Human Resources department.
Primary Responsibilities
Accountable for the execution and follow-through of complex and technical human resources responsibilities within the assigned functional area of staffing, compensation, and classification. Reviews, processes, and maintains faculty, staff, and executive staff job postings to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Receives interview lists and screens applicants for minimum qualifications. Assists departments with all aspects of the hiring process, including providing guidance regarding staffing procedures and requirements. Creates, processes, and submits Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs) and other personnel actions accurately and timely. Assists in reviewing and processing new hires, transfers, promotions, and other employment actions. Prepares reports, tracks, and audits data to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems. Maintains quality customer service for the assigned functional area through accurate and timely processing of documents, emails, and phone calls. Promptly and accurately responds to information requests and provides guidance to faculty and staff regarding applicable policies, procedures, and processes. Prepares letters, memos, and correspondence as needed. Updates and maintains various databases, records, and online systems. Assists with processing new position and reclassification requests and market adjustment requests as assigned. May provide support in other areas of Human Resources, including employee relations, insurance and retirement benefits, records, and employee training and development. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Skilled in completing forms, sending emails, composing letters, preparing training material and reports. Daily contact and interaction with university departments, vendors, off campus agencies, faculty, staff, and student employees. Performs research and prepares analytical reports, together with recommendations, on assigned subjects. Position requires confidentiality, attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within department and across the university community. Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment. Position may include occasional travel to conferences and/or job fairs.
