Position Summary
The Recruiter is responsible for supporting membership growth within assigned communities through community outreach, local marketing, recruitment events, and prospect follow-up.
Through relationship-building and grassroots engagement, this role helps connect girls and adults with Girl Scout opportunities and serves as a local ambassador for Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan.
Essential Functions
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, community partners, and local organizations.
- Represent Girl Scouts at community events, festivals, fairs, and outreach opportunities.
- Promote membership opportunities within assigned territories.
Recruitment Marketing Support
- Distribute recruitment materials and promotional resources.
- Support grassroots marketing efforts and local visibility initiatives.
- Promote events through community calendars and local channels.
Recruitment Event Support
- Assist with planning, staffing, and executing recruitment events, information nights, and membership opportunities.
- Provide accurate information and support to prospective families and volunteers.
Lead Follow-Up
- Contact prospective members and volunteers before and after recruitment events.
- Conduct reminder calls, emails, and engagement activities.
- Assist in moving prospective members to next steps in the membership journey.
Membership Growth Support
- Support implementation of local recruitment strategies.
- Collaborate with Regional Membership Managers and Membership Specialists to achieve membership goals.
- Assist with special projects and community initiatives as assigned.
Success Measures
- Increased attendance at recruitment events.
- Strong visibility of Girl Scouts throughout assigned communities.
- Timely follow-up with prospective families and volunteers.
- Positive customer experiences during the recruitment process.
- Increased girl and adult membership within assigned territories.

Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent education and experience required.
Work Environment and Travel
- This position primarily operates in the community and at recruitment events throughout Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan’s footprint.
- Frequent evening and weekend work is required during peak recruitment seasons.
- Attendance at community events, school functions, information nights, and outreach opportunities is expected.
- Travel throughout assigned territories is required. Travel is expected to comprise up to 75% of the role.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and maintain automobile insurance.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
