Recruiter – Engineering & Energy
Location: Metro Denver, Colorado | Hybrid Work Arrangement
The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced and motivated Recruiter – Engineering & Energy to support our engineering consulting teams primarily located in the Metro Denver area, as well as other regional offices across the United States and Canada.
This position is ideal for a resourceful, self-directed recruiter who enjoys building relationships, identifying technical talent, and partnering with hiring managers to meet evolving business needs.
The successful candidate will have strong full-cycle recruitment experience, with a particular emphasis on direct sourcing and engaging passive candidates. You will play an important role in attracting engineers, designers, project managers, and technical leaders to support our growing engineering consulting business, with a focus on the energy, oil and gas, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Recruitment: Independently manage the recruitment process, including intake meetings, job posting development, candidate sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offer negotiation, and acceptance.
- Direct Sourcing & Passive Candidate Engagement: Proactively identify, approach, and engage experienced technical professionals who may not be actively seeking new opportunities. Develop creative sourcing strategies and build talent pipelines to support current and future hiring needs.
- Technical Recruitment: Recruit across a range of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, civil, structural, process engineering, and project management. Develop an understanding of technical roles, industry requirements, and the qualifications needed for successful placements.
- Hiring Manager Partnership: Build strong relationships with technical managers and business leaders. Provide guidance on recruitment strategies, talent availability, compensation competitiveness, candidate selection, and realistic hiring timelines.
- Multi-Office Recruitment Support: Independently manage competing recruitment priorities and multiple searches across geographically dispersed offices. Primary regions include Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, British Columbia, and Alberta.
- Candidate Experience & Relationship Management: Deliver a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the recruitment process. Maintain relationships with prospective candidates and develop talent networks for future opportunities.
- Recruitment Systems & Reporting: Maintain accurate candidate records and recruitment activity within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Track recruitment progress, communicate hiring updates, and identify opportunities to improve recruitment effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 4 to 8 years of full-cycle recruitment experience, preferably involving technical or engineering positions.
- Previous recruitment experience within engineering consulting, oil and gas, energy, or industrial sectors is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated success in direct sourcing and engaging passive candidates, rather than relying primarily on applicants responding to job postings.
- Experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and other candidate sourcing tools.
- Ability to independently manage multiple recruitment assignments, balance competing priorities, and deliver results with limited supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and business leaders.
- Sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to recruitment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to handle confidential employee, candidate, and business information with professionalism and discretion.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required pre-employment background screening and drug and alcohol testing.
