Overview
The Physician Recruiter is responsible for developing and executing physician recruitment strategies to support PAM Health's hospitals and service lines. This position manages the full-cycle recruitment process for physicians and advanced practice providers, from identification of workforce needs and candidate sourcing through interviews, offer development, contract coordination, credentialing handoff, and onboarding.
The Physician Recruiter partners closely with hospital leadership, Medical Staff leadership, Human Resources, Medical Staff Services, clinical leaders, and external physician recruitment resources to identify qualified candidates and support the organization's physician staffing needs.
The position serves as a strategic recruitment partner to hospital and corporate leaders, providing market insight, candidate pipeline information, recruitment recommendations, and regular communication regarding open positions.
Responsibilities
Physician Recruitment Strategy
- Partner with hospital and corporate leadership to understand current and anticipated physician staffing needs.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies based on organizational priorities, physician specialty requirements, geographic market conditions, and workforce needs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of PAM Health's physician staffing model, service lines, facilities, and clinical specialties.
- Consult with leaders regarding recruitment challenges, candidate availability, market conditions, and appropriate sourcing strategies.
- Develop and maintain physician talent pipelines for current and anticipated openings.
Full-Cycle Physician Recruitment
- Manage the physician recruitment process from approved requisition through candidate acceptance and transition to onboarding.
- Develop candidate sourcing strategies using physician databases, professional organizations, recruitment platforms, networking, referrals, direct sourcing, and other appropriate resources.
- Review applications and qualifications to identify candidates who meet established position requirements.
- Conduct initial candidate screening interviews and assess qualifications, experience, career interests, and alignment with position requirements.
- Coordinate interviews between candidates and appropriate hospital and clinical leaders.
- Facilitate timely communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of recruitment activity within the applicant tracking system and other designated systems.
Candidate Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with physician candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for candidates and provide timely information regarding positions, facilities, recruitment processes, and next steps.
- Promote PAM Health's mission, vision, values, culture, clinical environment, career opportunities, and benefits.
- Maintain engagement with candidates during extended recruitment and credentialing timelines.
- Develop long-term relationships with physicians who may be potential candidates for future opportunities.
Offer and Contract Coordination
- Partner with Human Resources and appropriate leadership to develop physician compensation and employment offers consistent with organizational guidelines.
- Coordinate the offer process and facilitate communication regarding compensation, benefits, incentives, employment arrangements, and other applicable terms.
- Work with appropriate internal partners to facilitate physician employment agreements and related documentation.
- Ensure required approvals are obtained before offers are extended.
- Communicate approved offers to candidates and facilitate the acceptance process.
Credentialing and Onboarding Coordination
- Coordinate the transition of accepted candidates to the appropriate Medical Staff Services and onboarding teams.
- Maintain communication with candidates during the credentialing, privileging, licensing, and onboarding process.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify and address barriers that could delay a physician's start date.
- Support a positive candidate experience from initial contact through employment and onboarding.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and recruitment records in accordance with organizational requirements.
Recruitment Marketing and Sourcing
- Develop and maintain physician recruitment advertisements and position postings.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Marketing, as appropriate, to promote physician opportunities and PAM Health's employment brand.
- Identify new and innovative physician sourcing channels.
- Participate in physician recruitment events, conferences, career fairs, residency/fellowship programs, and professional networking activities as appropriate.
- Develop relationships with residency and fellowship programs and other organizations that may provide physician candidate pipelines.
Data, Reporting and Compliance
- Maintain accurate recruitment activity, candidate status, pipeline, and requisition information in the applicant tracking system.
- Monitor recruitment metrics, including open positions, candidate activity, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, offer acceptance, and other key measures.
- Prepare regular recruitment reports and updates for leadership.
- Maintain recruitment practices consistent with applicable employment laws, organizational policies, and physician recruitment requirements.
- Protect the confidentiality of candidate and employee information.
- Maintain appropriate documentation throughout the recruitment process.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Build effective working relationships with hospital administrators, medical directors, physicians, Human Resources leaders, Medical Staff Services, Finance, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates regarding recruitment activity, candidate pipelines, challenges, and anticipated hiring timelines.
- Facilitate communication among candidates and internal stakeholders to ensure an efficient recruitment process.
- Serve as a subject matter resource regarding physician recruitment practices and market trends.
Customer Service
- Maintains the highest level of customer service via courtesy, compassion and positive communication.
- Promotes the mission and vision of PAM Health within the work environment and the community.

- Must possess interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required for effective interaction with medical providers, case managers, patient assessment coordinators (PAC), and wound care managers
- Must communicate frequently in a tactful and diplomatic manner with medical providers, case managers, PACs, and wound care managers including clear and concise querying
- Must promote customer satisfaction by way of prompt and courteous service to internal and external customers
Health & Safety

- Participates in OSHA required training.
- Follows universal precautions as appropriate for position; complies with Employee Health requirements for continued employment.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- 3–5 years of recruiting experience, with physician recruitment experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing full-cycle recruitment processes preferred.
- Healthcare recruitment experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting physicians in rehabilitation, LTAC, acute care, hospital medicine, or other healthcare environments is highly desirable.
- Experience working with physician compensation, employment agreements, credentialing, or medical staff processes is preferred.
