Position Overview

The HR Specialist owns an accurate and timely payroll administration and supports the full recruiting lifecycle for Eye Consultants of Atlanta. The role coordinates sensitive employee data, payroll-cycle controls, onboarding and offboarding, candidate sourcing and communication, interview logistics, recruiting reporting, and cross-functional handoffs. Success requires confidentiality, careful documentation, responsive service, and the ability to shift between recurring payroll deadlines and variable recruiting demand.

Responsibilities

The position combines payroll administration (approximately 40% of current workload) and recruiting/talent acquisition (approximately 60% of current workload).

Payroll

  • Coordinate payroll preparation, adjustments, mileage, bonuses, retroactive pay, salary changes and final entries.
  • Track open payroll items and follow up on missing approvals, timecards, and employee information.
  • Review payroll previews, zero-earnings reports, and exceptions before processing.
  • Process direct-deposit changes using appropriate identity verification and approval controls.
  • Produce post-payroll reports, management reporting, FSA check requests, and weekly hours reports.
  • Prepare month-end payroll reports and support payroll journal entry documentation.
  • Process onboarding and offboarding documentation, including HRIS and IT handoffs.
  • Maintain employee records in iSolved, DocuSign and SharePoint with complete audit support.
  • Support off-cycle payrolls, live checks, quarterly reporting, and other time-sensitive exceptions.
  • Retain evidence of approvals and changes for payroll, HRIS and employee master-data activity.
  • Escalate unresolved discrepancies, fraud indicators, access concerns or deadline risks promptly.
  • Protect confidential payroll, compensation, banking and personal employee information.

Recruiting

  • Manage assigned requisitions and recruiting priorities with hiring managers.
  • Source, identify and engage qualified candidates through approved channels.
  • Screen candidates for role requirements, experience, availability and compensation alignment.
  • Coordinate interviews, candidate communication, feedback and next steps.
  • Maintain accurate candidate status, notes and documentation in recruiting systems and files.
  • Prepare recruiting reports and provide timely pipeline and activity updates.
  • Participate in weekly recruiting calls and stakeholder meetings.
  • Coordinate offers, pre-employment steps and handoff to new-hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Support unemployment-related documentation and employment inquiries as assigned.
  • Monitor aging requisitions, bottlenecks and candidate experience risks.
  • Apply consistent, job-related selection practices and protect the candidate's confidentiality.
  • Flex recruiting effort around payroll deadlines and escalate competing priorities.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll, HR operations, recruiting or closely related experience.
  • Demonstrated payroll-cycle administration and candidate coordination experience.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills; comfortable reconciling detailed data.
  • Experience with an HRIS/payroll platform; iSolved experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with employees, candidates and leaders.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
