HR Generalist / Recruiter (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical)

Job Overview
Our organization is a leading provider of premium HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services. We are looking for an energetic HR Generalist / Recruiter to join our team. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our growth, split evenly between aggressive technician recruitment and core HR operations. You will keep our service trucks staffed with top-tier talent while managing daily employee relations, benefits, and trade compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Recruitment & Sourcing (75%)
- Active Sourcing: Aggressively source licensed Journeymen, Masters, and skilled Apprentices in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades via job boards, social media, and local trade schools.
- Full-Cycle Hiring: Write job postings, review resumes, conduct phone screens, and schedule hands-on or in-person interviews for field and office staff.
- Onboarding: Manage the pre-employment process, including mandatory background checks, drug screenings, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews to ensure driving compliance.
HR Operations & Compliance (25%)
- Employee Relations: Serve as the go-to contact for field technicians and office staff regarding policy questions, workplace issues, and conflict resolution.
- Benefits & Payroll Support: Coordinate health insurance enrollment, tracking vacation/PTO, and auditing weekly timesheets for payroll submission.
- Safety & Trade Compliance: Maintain accurate DOT/OSHA logs, track active trade licenses/certifications, and assist management with safety policy enforcement.
- HRIS Tracking: Keep employee files up to date within our HR systems and ensure all federal, state, and local labor law posters are current.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in the skilled trades, construction, or residential home services industries.
- HR Knowledge: 2+ years of HR Generalist experience handling employee relations, compliance, or benefits administration.
- Licensing Knowledge: Familiarity with local trade licensing requirements (Journeyman/Master cards) and EPA certifications is a major plus.
Core Skills
- Exceptional phone and texting communication skills (essential for reaching busy field technicians).
- High discretion for handling confidential personnel files.
- Strong organization to manage high-volume hiring and tracking spreadsheets.
- Software: Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), BambooHR, or trade software (like ServiceTitan) is preferred.
