The Executive Search Advisor is a senior individual contributor and trusted enterprise talent advisor responsible for executive search across JM Family, with primary accountability for Assistant Vice President through Executive Management Team (EMT) roles. The role strengthens the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of executive talent decisions by integrating business and leadership requirements, internal talent considerations, external market insight, candidate assessment, stakeholder alignment, and candidate experience.
Reporting to the Vice President of Talent Management, the Advisor leads end-to-end executive search strategy and serves as the primary connection among executive stakeholders, internal talent partners, candidates and external search partners. The Advisor works closely with the EMT and senior leaders to understand leadership needs, shape search strategy, assess talent, and drive alignment throughout the search.
The Advisor manages executive search-firm relationships and ensures partners have the context, access, feedback, and direction needed to deliver successful outcomes. Success requires executive presence, sound judgment, the ability to influence, business acumen, discretion, relationship management, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics
The role delivers highly personalized experience for internal stakeholders and executive candidates while representing JM Family Enterprises with credibility in the executive talent market.
As capacity allows, the Advisor may also support executive development initiatives and specialized, confidential, or difficult-to-fill talent needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead Executive Search Engagements: Own the executive search strategy and end-to-end process for assigned AVP through EMT searches, including intake, market research, internal and external sourcing strategy, search-firm partnerships, candidate assessment, selection governance, stakeholder alignment, offer strategy, and close.
- Advise Executive Stakeholders: Partner with the EMT and senior leaders to clarify leadership needs, bring external market and talent perspective, and influence executive hiring decisions.
- Lead Search Firm Partnerships: Manage external search firm relationships, including firm selection, search strategy, expectations, performance, and outcomes. Serve as the connection between search partners and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear direction, timely feedback, access, and alignment throughout the engagement.
- Assess Executive Talent: Evaluate executive candidates against business and leadership needs, synthesize strengths and risks, and provide clear recommendations to senior decision makers.
- Integrate executive search with enterprise succession, talent review, and leadership planning by ensuring internal talent is thoughtfully considered, external market insight informs leadership decisions, and search strategies address clearly defined capability gaps.
- Establish and monitor executive search effectiveness, including search progress, candidate slate quality, stakeholder and candidate experience, search-partner performance, offer outcomes, and adherence to enterprise selection and confidentiality standards.
- Deliver the Executive Search Experience: Ensure highly personalized and responsive service for executive stakeholders and candidates while navigating sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
- Support Strategic Talent Needs: As capacity allows, support executive development initiatives and specialized, confidential, or difficult-to-fill talent needs.
Qualifications
- Executive Search Expertise: 10+ years of progressive executive search or senior-level talent acquisition experience, ideally within retained search and/or a sophisticated in-house executive recruiting function, with demonstrated success supporting AVP and above searches.
- Executive Partnership & Influence: Proven ability to establish credibility with senior executives, navigate complex stakeholder dynamics, influence decisions, and serve as a trusted advisor.
- Search Partner Management: Demonstrated ability to build and manage effective external search partnerships, establish expectations, and create the internal conditions necessary for successful outcomes.
- Executive Assessment & Market Insight: Strong ability to assess senior leadership talent, synthesize strengths and risks, and bring relevant market intelligence to executive talent decisions.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business strategy, organizational context, and how leadership and talent decisions impact business outcomes.
- Communication & Relationship Management: Exceptional executive-level communication and relationship skills with the ability to build trust across senior leaders, candidates, HR partners, and external search partners.
- Judgment & Discretion: Demonstrated maturity and sound judgment when navigating highly sensitive, confidential, and consequential talent matters.
- Execution: Ability to independently manage multiple complex searches and stakeholders while delivering exceptional quality, responsiveness, and follow-through.
