JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Physician Services Strategy & Recruitment is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing the strategic direction of Knox Community Hospital’s physician enterprise. This position oversees physician recruitment, contracting, workforce planning, and provider relations to ensure a high‑performing, engaged, and sustainable medical staff. The Director serves as the primary liaison between hospital administration and physicians, strengthening communication, alignment, and partnership across all service lines.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director leads initiatives that support organizational growth, clinical excellence, and long‑term physician workforce stability.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Workforce Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive physician services strategy aligned with organizational goals, community needs, and long‑term growth plans.
- Conduct ongoing workforce assessments to identify provider needs, succession planning priorities, and service line expansion opportunities.
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives, market analysis, and physician enterprise development.
Physician Recruitment & Onboarding
- Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for physicians and advanced practice providers, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer development.
- Build strong relationships with residency programs, fellowship programs, and recruitment partners to strengthen candidate pipelines.
- Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a seamless transition for new providers, including orientation, credentialing coordination, and integration into clinical teams.
Contracting & Compensation
- Manage physician contracting processes, including drafting, negotiation, renewal, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and physician services leadership to ensure contracts reflect fair market value, organizational priorities, and performance expectations.
- Support development and administration of compensation models, incentives, and performance‑based agreements.
Physician Relations & Liaison Work
- Serve as the primary administrative liaison for physicians, fostering strong communication, trust, and alignment with hospital leadership.
- Address provider concerns, facilitate conflict resolution, and support a positive, collaborative practice environment.
- Partner with medical staff leadership to strengthen engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Requirements Include
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in physician recruitment, provider relations, or healthcare leadership.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, contracting, and physician workforce development.
- Strong relationship‑building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, fair market value standards, and physician compensation models.
