Mission Pet Health is seeking an exceptionally analytical, data-forward Director of Talent Acquisition to lead a high-performing team of 18 recruiting professionals. This leader will design and drive end-to-end talent acquisition strategies that attract, source, and hire top-tier veterinary and operational talent across our growing network of pet health clinics.
The Director will own the full recruiting funnel—from top-of-funnel sourcing through submittal and offer accepted—and will be accountable for hitting specific submittal and start goals for veterinarians. Leveraging deep funnel analytics, this individual will diagnose performance gaps at every stage, develop targeted interventions, and translate data into actionable strategy. Equal parts strategist and operator, the Director will partner closely with senior leadership to align talent acquisition priorities with Mission Pet Health's growth objectives and serve as the organization's internal expert on market intelligence, workforce planning, and recruiting best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Organizational Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 18 recruiting professionals across sourcing, coordination, and senior recruiting functions, fostering a high-performance, data-driven culture
- Set clear performance expectations and OKRs; hold the team accountable to submittal, offer, and start goals, with particular focus on veterinarian hiring targets
- Develop and manage the Talent Acquisition budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and maximum return on recruiting investment
- Build career growth paths and succession plans within the TA team to retain top recruiting talent
Analytics, Funnel Diagnostics & Data-Driven Strategy
- Own the full recruiting funnel—from applicant volume through screen, submittal, and offer—maintaining rigorous visibility into conversion rates at every stage
- Apply a highly analytical lens to funnel performance: proactively identify where conversion rates are breaking down, determine root causes, and design targeted solutions to close gaps
- Build and maintain recruiting dashboards and KPI reports that provide senior leadership with real-time insight into pipeline health, time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and offer acceptance trends
- Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for executive and operational stakeholders; make evidence-based recommendations on strategy and resource allocation
- Utilize predictive modeling and historical trends to anticipate hiring demand and pipeline capacity needs before shortfalls occur
Veterinarian & Critical-Role Hiring
- Own and drive submittal and start goals for veterinarians across the Mission Pet Health clinic network; this is a primary accountability of the role
- Develop deep market knowledge of the veterinary talent landscape, including compensation benchmarks, candidate availability, competitive positioning, and emerging sourcing channels
- Design and execute multi-channel sourcing strategies (veterinary schools, professional associations, passive outreach, referral programs) to build and sustain a robust veterinarian pipeline
- Build relationships with veterinary professional associations, academic programs, and candidate communities to strengthen Mission Pet Health's employer brand within the profession
Strategic Partnership & Executive Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject-matter expert to the CHRO and senior leadership team on talent market conditions, workforce planning, and recruiting effectiveness
- Partner with operations, finance, and clinical leadership to develop and execute workforce plans that anticipate hiring needs aligned to clinic expansion and growth targets
- Present insights, strategy, and performance results to executive leadership with clarity and confidence; influence talent decisions through data-backed recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR Business Partners, Compensation, and Marketing to ensure a cohesive, compelling candidate experience and employer brand
Recruiting Programs, Process & Innovation
- Develop and implement multi-dimensional recruiting strategies and programs that improve quality-of-hire, reduce time-to-fill, and scale with organizational growth
- Act as the internal SME on recruiting technology, ATS optimization (Avature preferred), and process automation to drive efficiency across the TA function
- Build repeatable, programmatic solutions to high-volume recruiting challenges; standardize workflows while preserving flexibility for specialized hiring needs
- Lead initiatives to drive candidate flow for targeted positions, positioning Mission Pet Health as an employer of choice in the veterinary and pet health industry
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices across all aspects of sourcing, assessment, and selection
- Lead innovative experiments—A/B testing sourcing channels, interview processes, and candidate engagement approaches—that measurably improve recruiting outcomes
- Ensure all talent acquisition activities comply with applicable employment laws, regulations, and Mission Pet Health's internal policies and standards
