The College of Architecture and Design seeks a Recruitment Coordinator to develop and implement strategies that recruit undergraduate and graduate students to the College and support enrollment, retention, and graduation goals for all of its degree programs. This position leads on- and off-campus recruitment efforts, fosters relationships with prospective students and families, and collaborates with college and university partners to strengthen awareness of the College and its academic programs.

The Recruitment Coordinator will develop recruitment pipelines through partnerships with high schools, universities and colleges, community organizations, alumni, and programs that serve graduate school- and college-bound students from a variety of backgrounds and communities. The position curates, analyzes and uses quantitative and qualitative data to identify effective recruitment locations, audiences, and methods and to refine outreach efforts over time.

College Recruitment and Liaison (65%)

Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students interested in the College of Architecture and Design.
Provide information about academic programs, admissions requirements, deadlines, portfolio expectations if applicable, and application procedures.
Develop, manage, and lead participation in on- and off-campus recruitment events, including graduate-school fairs, high school visits, group tours, open houses, and virtual recruitment activities. Note, this position will require travel, both regionally and nationally.
Create and conduct specialized and personalized campus and virtual experiences for prospective students and their families.
Maintain communication with prospective students through email, phone, virtual platforms, and in-person outreach, and manage all contact follow-up.
Collaborate with admissions and college partners to guide prospective students through the recruitment and decision-making process and connect them with appropriate resources and services.
Develop and maintain relationships with universities and colleges, high schools, community partners, alumni, and other stakeholders that support recruitment outcomes and long-term engagement with the College.

Recruitment Strategy, Planning, and Communications (25%)

Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans that increase exposure to prospective students from all backgrounds, including rural and urban communities.
Identify and develop recruitment pipelines through partnerships with programs that serve graduate school- and college-bound students and through relationships with educators, counselors, alumni, and community organizations.
Curate, analyze and use quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate recruitment efforts, identify target audiences, and improve outreach effectiveness.
Develop presentations and collaborate with communications and marketing staff to create recruitment materials, electronic communications, and messaging that engage prospective students and families while strengthening awareness of the College and its programs.

General College Responsibilities and Support (10%)

Assist with College events and initiatives, including open house programs, orientation, commencement, student engagement activities, and other Dean’s Office or college-wide events as needed.
Participate in professional development opportunities, attend conferences, engage with relevant professional organizations, serve on committees and collaborative initiatives, complete special projects as assigned, and provide additional support for recruitment, engagement, and student success efforts.

Required Qualifications

Education:Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered where appropriate.
Experience:Experience directly related to the job duties, including student recruitment or recruitment experience in general, higher education admissions, outreach, prospective student engagement, event planning, or related work.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of student recruitment or recruitment practices in general, higher education admissions processes, prospective student outreach strategies and engagement strategies.
Knowledge of recruitment events such as college fairs, high school visits, open houses, group tours, virtual information sessions, and campus visit programming
Knowledge of effective engagement strategies with prospective students, families, high school counselors, university educators, alumni, community partners, and internal university stakeholders
Skill in developing and delivering presentations
Skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
Skill in planning and executing recruitment programs, visits, tours, and special events
Skill in Microsoft Office programs or equivalent tools
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, represent the College professionally, communicate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and communities, maintain and follow up with prospective student contacts, collaborate with admissions and college partners, and work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:Bachelor’s degree in a related field or coursework/experience connected to architecture, design, higher education, communications, marketing, or student services.
Experience:One year of experience in postsecondary student recruitment or outreach, preferably in architecture and design, including planning, developing, and executing recruitment programs and events.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
Skill in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or equivalent tools
Ability to learn new software; ability to build relationships with high schools, community organizations, alumni, educators, counselors, and university partners.

Work Location

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Work arrangement: Onsite

This position is not eligible for remote work because it requires regular face-to-face engagement with prospective students, families, campus visitors, college partners, and recruitment event participants. The role also requires on-campus programming, off-campus travel, evening and weekend events, and direct participation in tours, open houses, college fairs, and related recruitment activities.

Ability to work with people face-to-face and through online technologies.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed to support recruitment events and College programs.
